Symantec Increases Cost Savings for Macintosh Customers with Utility Software Bundle
CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 2, 1999 - Symantec Corporation
(Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in utility software for business and personal computing, today
announced the availability of Symantec's utility software package created to provide Macintosh
customers - including the growing number of iMac owners - everything needed to solve their computer
problems, get organized and stay productive. The utility package consists of industry-leading
Norton AntiVirus 5.0 for Macintosh and includes both Spring
Cleaning 2.0 from Aladdin Systems, Inc. and Retrospect Express 4.1 from Dantz Development
Corporation directly inside the Norton boxes.
Beginning March 1, 1999, consumers can purchase the bundle, valued at more than $250, for $149 at
major retail computer stores and mail order stores nationwide.
The price of the bundle represents savings worth more than $100 off the total suggested retail
price of the individual products. Customers receive the utility tools required to keep their
systems safe, optimized, and problem-free -- all for a price less than the combined suggested retail
price of both Norton products.
"For more than ten years, Symantec has been committed to serving the utility and antivirus needs of
the Macintosh community," said Enrique Salem, vice president of Symantec's Security and Assistance
Business Unit. "With the Symantec utility bundle, we are providing customers tremendous value and
reaffirming our commitment to the Macintosh customer segment. For Macintosh users, including the
booming number of new iMac owners, the Symantec utility bundle is an absolute 'must-have' to keep
their systems safe and problem-free."
