RadioShack and Symantec Announce Software Alliance
Nation's Largest Consumer Electronics Retail Chain Teams With Industry Leading Utility Software Vendor To Offer Co-branded Software
Fort Worth, Texas - April 1, 1999 - RadioShack, the retail operating format
of Tandy Corporation (NYSE: TAN), and Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC),
announced today an agreement to offer co-branded utilities software.

SystemWorks will be available through the retail chain's more than 7,000 outlets
nationwide in April.

RadioShack/Norton AntiVirus includes all of the functionality of Symantec Norton
AntiVirus 5.0, providing 100% detection of in-the-wild viruses in recent tests
by Virus Bulletin.
Its LiveUpdate feature simplifies the process of downloading virus definition
updates, thereby protecting users' systems from sources of infection, including
the Internet, floppy disks, email attachments, shared files, and networks. Also
included is the ability to safely isolate suspicious files, submit files for
analysis to the Symantec AntiVirus Research Center (SARC) directly from the
product, handle additional compressed file formats, and automatically report on
action the anti virus software has taken.
RadioShack/Norton CrashGuard intercepts crashes and screen freezes long enough
for the user to save his or her work. It also reduces the chance of a system
crash by utilizing award-winning Norton technology to find and solve disk
problems.
The RadioShack/Norton SystemWorks suite offers virus protection, crash
intervention and access to software updates as well as freeware/shareware via a
simple point-and-click interface. The suite also includes utilities to diagnose
and repair disk and Windowstm related problems, optimize the Windows swap file
and registry, protect deleted or overwritten files and edit the system registry.
