Symantec and AVT RightFAX Software Group Team Up to Integrate WinFax PRO 9.0 With the RightFAX V6.0 Fax Server Product Line

Combined Technologies Enable Corporate-Wide Utilization of World's Best-Selling Fax Software and Leading Windows NT Fax Server Software

CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 12, 1999 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in utility software for business and personal computing, today announced an alliance with AVT RightFAX Software Group (Nasdaq: AVTC), the leading developer of advanced enterprise fax server software. The alliance includes integration between Symantec's WinFax PRO 9.0 and the RightFAX v6.0 fax server product line to provide a total corporate solution for network-based faxing.

Symantec has built a loyal customer following with WinFax PRO and utilizing a fax server solution will be able to expand that into enterprise organizations. Through Symantec's alliance with RightFAX, these new enterprise customers can maintain WinFax PRO as their front end fax client and extend their fax capabilities through the robust functionality of the back end RightFAX fax server. With the WinFax/RightFAX solution, Symantec enhances its ability to support enterprise customers and AVT RightFAX Software Group grows its customer base.
