Symantec's TalkWorks PRO Named Editor's Choice by Computer Telephony Magazine
Latest Award Follows Recent Product of the Year Designation from CTI Magazine
Cupertino, Calif. April 28, 1999 - Symantec Corporation
(Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in utility software for business and personal
computing, announced that TalkWorks PRO 2.0 was named Editor's Choice by
Computer Telephony magazine. Earlier this year, editors at CTI magazine
recognized TalkWorks PRO 2.0 as SOHO Product of the Year.
"We are thrilled that TalkWorks Pro has received the coveted Editor's Choice
award from Computer Telephony, one of the CT industry's most respected
publications. To have this recognition so closely follow CTI's Product of the
Year designation validates the level of our commitment to providing small
businesses the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive
marketplace," said Christopher Calisi, vice president of Symantec's Remote
Productivity Business Unit.
In the March 1999 issue of Computer Telephony magazine, editor James Gifford
shared the results of his real-world comparison testing of TalkWorks PRO 2.0 and
SmithMicro's HotFax Message Center. "TalkWorks PRO is the clear winner between
the two," he concluded. "TalkWorks' advantages are significant, [including]
two-line support, a GUI prompt editor, and automatic software updates."
Gifford continued by singling out TalkWorks' ease-of-use and high quality. "The
Symantec product is incredibly smooth and polished on every facet, from
installation through daily maintenance," he wrote. "One of the major concerns
with modem-based voice systems is the quality of recorded speech. Recording
quality prompts is easy in the TalkWorks system. The simple recorder/editor
allows you to trim and touch up recordings to remove noise, long silences, and
verbal flubs . . . TalkWorks' playback mechanism is especially nice, with
dynamic slider controls for volume, playback speed, and playback position."
TalkWorks PRO 2.0 is a compete voice and fax messaging solution designed to
assist small businesses and home offices in improving communications with their
customers and projecting a more professional image. With TalkWorks PRO 2.0, even
the smallest office can utilize this most robust range of messaging tools from
their PC to give their small business a large voice. Designed especially for
offices of one to five people, TalkWorks PRO 2.0 includes complete voice-mail
capabilities, remote message notification, call tracking, full PC-based fax and
fax-on-demand, as well as voice/fax discrimination. In addition to award
recognition, TalkWorks PRO 2.0 commands 41% of the marketshare for the SOHO fax
and voice messaging segment according to PC Data.
