Symantec Appoints Robin Matlock VP of Product Management

Promotion Within Company's Remote Productivity Solutions Business Unit Effective Immediately

Cupertino, Calif. May 3, 1999 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) has promoted Robin Matlock from senior director of product management for the Remote Productivity Solutions (RPS) Business Unit to vice president.

As vice president of product management, Matlock is responsible for defining successful strategies for products such as pcANYWHERE, ACT!, WinFax, Mobile Essentials, pcTelecommute and TalkWorks. This entails assessing global customer needs, defining solutions to address those needs, selecting appropriate distribution channels, developing positioning, and managing global brands.

"Robin has been instrumental in forging strategic relationships, setting direction and driving growth for the RPS business unit for the past two years," said Christopher Calisi, vice president, Remote Productivity Solutions for Symantec. "Her extensive sales and business development experience is extremely valuable to the success of our solutions in the marketplace."

Through the company's 1995 acquisition of Delrina, Matlock joined Symantec as director of OEM sales. Prior to joining Symantec, she was a national VAR manager for Delrina and a regional sales manager for Opus Systems. Matlock has more than 10 years experience in the computer industry, where she has held a variety of top management positions in sales and business development. She holds a degree in Economics and Music from Rice University.
