Tivoli IT Director Eases Deployment of Norton 2000 for Effective Data, Application, and Hardware Scanning Across Enterprise

Cupertino, Calif. Tivoli Manager for Norton 2000 2.0 combines Symantec's Norton 2000 2.0, the best and most cost-effective Y2K analysis and testing product, with the Tivoli IT Director, the most comprehensive systems and network management product available for small and mid-sized businesses.

Tivoli Manager for Norton 2000 2.0 enables network managers to use the centralized control and systems management capabilities of Tivoli IT Director with Norton 2000 2.0 to identify Year 2000 issues throughout the IT network. The combination of these products enables IT managers to centrally manage the Y2K remediation process and provide more rapid and efficient Year 2000 readiness for their small to mid-sized businesses.

By combining Norton 2000 Y2K capabilities with Tivoli IT Director, users can centrally generate events based on the severity of century-date compliance on client machines. Tivoli Manager for Norton 2000 2.0 integration features a centralized log file that displays the results of scans on multiple computers, thereby eliminating the need for an administrator to wade through log files of each end-user machine. The results are saved on the console machine, making a repair, upgrade, or replacement more efficient with software distribution and file transfer capabilities.

Channel partners providing Year 2000 services can use Tivoli Manager for Norton 2000 2.0 to reduce time for Year 2000 testing and provide more efficient upgrade, replacement, and ongoing maintenance for customers. In addition, Tivoli Manager for Norton 2000 2.0 also provides a platform for extensive application upgrades for ERP, accounting, or custom packages that will have to be upgraded or replaced because of Year 2000 issues.

Flexible Scanning, Reporting, and Remediation with Norton 2000 2.0 Norton 2000 2.0 allows users to guard the mission-critical data residing on desktop and laptop computers by scanning data, applications, and hardware, and then alerting the user to non-compliance problems that may lead to financial losses, and liability issues. Version 2.0 of Norton 2000 includes enhanced administrative features, improved database options, and flexible correction capabilities. New scanning and reporting options allow an organization to compile reports with different levels of detail and set its own criteria for measuring risk. Version 2.0 also supports the ability to sort the log window results from the data scan by severity, and filter the data by issues, errors, and notes.

In addition, Norton 2000 2.0's new Fix Assistant for Microsoft Excel allows for quick and easy remediation of common, repetitive year 2000 issues in data. Norton 2000 scans Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, Access, dBase, Paradox, and Quattro Pro files. It identifies, prioritizes, and reports on data calculation anomalies in spreadsheet cells and formulas, database fields, and forms text.

Norton 2000 2.0 features enterprise project management and data analysis tools. The Norton 2000 Database assists administrators in identifying desktop Year 2000 problems across the entire organization by evaluating progress towards complete Year 2000 compliance. Results from the system date test, application scan, and data scan can be combined and rolled into the Norton 2000 Database.

Norton 2000 continues to earn praise from publications representing both the public and private sectors.
