Symantec and Beyond.com Launch U.S. Online Software Store
New Store Will Be First In a Series Of Online Stores Designed By
Beyond.com To Better Serve Symantec Customers Worldwide
Cupertino, Calif. and SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 14, 1999 -
Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: "SYMC") today announced a new online U.S. software
shop created and managed by Internet superstore Beyond.comä (Nasdaq: "BYND") -
the first in a worldwide chain of stores that Symantec plans to roll out over the
next four months.
Located at http://www.symantecstore.com, the online software store has been
designed based on customer feedback and features Symantec's full range of
products available by packaged delivery or via digital download, round-the-clock
telephone and online support, and a 60-day, money-back guarantee on all products.
"This worldwide initiative is designed to establish a more seamless relationship
between Symantec and its customers," said Pamela Roberts, Symantec's senior

channel into our e-business strategy and provides an enhanced user experience for

The new online store features areas that are dedicated to specific customers such
as the small business, power and Macintosh users. Symantec and Beyond.com have
designed the U.S. shop so that it is easy for customers to navigate and find the
information they need to make optimal software purchase decisions. In time,
Symantec plans to launch international online software shops, also created and
managed by Beyond.com, which will be multi-lingual and will let customers
purchase Symantec products in multiple, local currencies.
