announced Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh v6.0, the latest version of the worldıs
number one anti-virus solution for the Mac. Improved scanning capabilities and
powerful updating technologies make Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh v6.0 the most
up-to-date and refined way to safeguard todayıs Mac computing experience.

Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh is the number one virus protection solution for
Macintosh computers. Version 6.0 provides fast, effective, and automatic
protection against viruses that can enter Macintosh systems via web browsers,
online services, e-mail, networks, floppy diskettes, and CDs. In addition, Norton
AntiVirus for Macintosh v6.0 uses Symantecıs next-generation Bloodhound heuristic
technology to automatically detect and remove known and unknown viruses. Version
6.0 is PowerPC native and HFS+ compatible.
Improved scanning capabilities in version 6.0 increase system performance while
enhancing overall protection against viral threats. Speed of initial scans, and
subsequent virus scans are better than 20% faster than before. Norton AntiVirus
for Macintosh v6.0 features asynchronous open scanning, improved scanning for
unknown viruses, and removable media bypass. In addition, with version 6.0, users
can configure Norton AntiVirus to scan archived files last.
Version 6.0 includes an enhanced LiveUpdate utility, which automatically detects
an Internet connection and connects to a Symantec server using ftp protocol, then
downloads and installs the latest virus definition and software updates. As a
result, LiveUpdate makes it easy and fast for users of all experience levels to
keep virus definitions and software up-to-date. Users can schedule LiveUpdate to
run at regular intervals or can trigger it manually by pressing the LiveUpdate
button.
Pricing and Availability
Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh v6.0 is available in early September and is priced
at US$69.95; upgrades are priced at US$29.95.

Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh v6.0 requires a PowerPC processor, Mac OS 8.0 or
greater, 24MB of RAM, 10MB of hard disk space, CD-ROM drive, and an Internet
connection (for LiveUpdate functionality).
