Quality Integration Services, Inc. Purchases 150,000 Seat License From Symantec
Global Integrator Purchases Norton Ghost To Rollout New PCs Across U.S. Network
CUPERTINO, Calif. Oct. 11, 1999 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC)
announced today that Quality Integration Services, Inc., a global systems
integrator, bought a 150,000 seat license for Symantec's Norton Ghost
disk-cloning product to configure and distribute new PCs more effectively and
cost efficiently.
Norton Ghost works by creating an identical image of a hard disk drive,
effectively taking a 'snapshot' of all the files - including hidden and system
files that make up the operating system, applications and configurations
settings. This image can then be copied simultaneously to any number of servers,
to create completely identical installations. Norton Ghost enables increased
productivity by allowing multiple workstations to be installed at the same time.
Quality Integration Services will use the Symantec solution at multiple
distribution sites across the United States to image files and create copies of
the original disk onto all incoming machines.
"Norton Ghost is one of the most sophisticated disk-copying programs available.
Our administrators can set up a single PC and clone a standard disk image across
the entire enterprise, which further improves efficiency," said Kevin Olson,
director of support operations for Quality Integration Services.
