Norton SystemWorks Honored By Leading Latin America Publication
PC World Latin America Names Norton SystemWorks Best Utilities Suite
MIAMI, Florida October 13, 1999 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC)
today announced that Norton SystemWorks 2.0 was named Best Utilities Suite by PC
World Latin America, one of the region's leading computer publications. Earlier
this year, its parent magazine, PC World, also recognized Norton SystemWorks,
awarding it the prestigious World Class Award for best utility software.
"Symantec is very pleased that PC World Latin America, one of the most
influential publications in this growing market, has singled out Norton
SystemWorks as the top utilities suite," said Michelle Amery, senior director of
Symantec Latin America. "This designation affirms Norton SystemWorks' place as a
world class solution and underscores Symantec's ongoing commitment to providing
the Latin America region the most intelligent tools to make computing safe and
simple."
"PC World Latin America is dedicated to providing the region with the most
complete and relevant IT news, said Trino Ramos, Publisher of PC World Latin
America. "As a result of our focus on the region, PC World Latin America has
named Norton SystemWorks 2.0 as a recipient of our first annual PC World Latin
America Awards for Best Utility Software which represent the best IT products and
services in Latin America."
Norton SystemWorks 2.0 includes Norton Utilities, Norton AntiVirus, Norton
CleanSweep, and Norton CrashGuard. The suite was designed specifically to provide
consumers a comprehensive, completely integrated and intuitive solution to keep
their computers operating at peak performance. Much more than a bundle, Norton
SystemWorks gives users everything they need in one box--one install, one product
update center, one manual, one support line, and one emergency disk set--all with
a single, easy-to-use interface.
Each product in the Norton SystemWorks suite is part of the Norton family of
products designed and developed to work together. These products were then
integrated using Symantec's integration technologies, thereby eliminating the
problems associated with bundled offerings.
The Best Utilities Suite award from PC World Latin America is the latest in a
series of awards Norton SystemWorks has earned. In May, Norton SystemWorks was
named PC Magazine Editors' Choice; in March, it earned a place on Windows
Magazine's respected WinList of recommended products. In November 1998 and May
1999, Norton SystemWorks outperformed McAfee Office in tests conducted by
Ziff-Davis Testing and Analysis Group (ZDTag), the independent testing lab for
technical powerhouse publications such as PC Magazine, PC Week, PC Computing, and
Inter@ctive Week.
