Symantec Signs Agreement With German Savings
Bank Organization (Siz) For Up To 100,000 Seats
CUPERTINO, Calif. - Feb. 25, 2000 -- Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC)
announced today that The Savings Bank Organization (SIZ) in Bonn, Germany has
signed an agreement for up to 100,000 seats of Symantec's content security and
other solutions. The agreement was signed with the SIZ IT Center and applies to
all institutions associated with the SIZ.
The IT Center plans, coordinates and executes all IT business for the SIZ and
associated institutions and has negotiated close relationships with a number of
leading data processing and telecommunications products and services to ensure
cost-efficient and rapid service for products and services.
A main component of the agreement with Symantec is a license for Norton AntiVirus
Enterprise Solution, which provides protection for networks on all major
platforms including: Windows 3.x, 95, 98, NT and Windows 2000, Macintosh and
OS/2, Internet E-Mail Gateways, Solaris and firewalls, as well as MS Exchange,
Lotus Notes and NetWare.
The agreement with SIZ also covers other Symantec solutions including remote
control and remote management technologies and URL blocking and email filtering
products.

- With an increasing number of competitors coming into the financial services
market from overseas and other sectors, the Savings Bank Financial Group is
compelled to make reductions in costs and improvements in efficiency.
This can only be achieved through group cooperation. The IT center for the savings bank
organization (SIZ) is in charge of the following major activities in this process:
- The grouping of IT activities in the savings bank organization;
- The development of strategies for the future organization of technologies;
- The organization of cooperation in application development between the development teams in the savings banks and Land banks.
