Symantec Appoints Bill Owens And Dan Schulman To Board Of Directors
CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 21, 2000 -- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today
announced the appointment of Bill Owens and Dan Schulman to the Symantec board of
directors.
As co-chief executive officer and vice chairman of Teledesic LLC since 1998,
Owens brings extensive experience in corporate growth strategies and worldwide
relationships in the government sector. Schulman, president and chief operating
officer of priceline.com, has solid experience in developing customized services
to meet distinct customer segment needs and creating new distribution channels to
generate significant growth.

At Teledesic, Owens currently spearheads business development and government
marketing activities. Previously, Owens was president, chief operating officer
and vice chairman of Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), the
nation's largest employee-owned high technology company. During his two-year
tenure as president, the company grew more than 160 percent to $5 billion.
Before going into the private sector, Owens held the rank of admiral in the US
Navy and was vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Owens is a graduate of
the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He has
bachelor's and master's degrees in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford
University and a master's degree in management from George Washington University.
At priceline.com, Schulman has broad responsibility for all operations,
technology, marketing and product development. Schulman joined priceline.com
after a highly successful 18-year career with AT&T where he was the youngest
member of the company's most senior executive body, the AT&T Operations Group.
Schulman was an executive vice president of AT&T as well as the president of the
Consumer Markets Division. Schulman came to Consumer Markets after building AT&T
WorldNet service into the largest and fastest-growing Internet service provider
in the country. He also served as chief of marketing for AT&T's $24 billion
Business Markets Group where he led the integration of wireless, e-commerce and
local services into innovative bundles. Graduating from Middlebury College in
1980, Schulman has a bachelor's degree in economics and geography. He received a
master's in business administration from the New York University Graduate School
of Business Administration in 1986.
