Symantec Promotes Giesbrecht To Run International Business
CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 22, 2000 -- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today
announced the appointment of Dieter Giesbrecht as senior vice president
International. Previously Giesbrecht had been vice president of Symantec's
Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) business for three years.
In his new role, Giesbrecht is responsible for Symantec's worldwide business
outside of the United States and Canada including all sales, marketing and
services activities. At just less than $85 million, international revenue

"As Vice President EMEA, Dieter achieved tremendous revenue growth. In his new
international role, he will be looking to achieve similar results on a larger
geographic scale," said John W. Thompson, Symantec chairman, president and CEO.
"He will also be focused on implementing consistent business practices across our
international operations."
Giesbrecht has a degree from the Technical University of Furtwangen, Germany.
Symantec plans to announce a successor as vice president EMEA.
