News Release
Symantec Vice President To Address Internet Security At CIO Perspectives Conference
CUPERTINO, Calif. - April 17, 2000
WHO/WHAT
Gary Warren, Symantec's vice president of strategic market development, will
share insight and information to help executives navigate their companies through
the high-stakes, high profile issues associated with Internet security. In the
past three months Internet security has been propelled from a middle management
issue to boardrooms where executives must constantly drive and monitor policy and
strategy. CIOs and executives in attendance will understand the questions they
need to ask to maintain safe, secure and productive organizations and will come
away with many answers for creating total security in their company.
As vice president of strategic market development Warren is on the forefront of
creating alliances to deliver integrated security solutions and help enterprise
companies maintain secure networks and systems. Warren came to Symantec through
the its acquisition of URLabs, a company he co-founded that provided content
security products. Before co-founding URLabs, Warren managed NASA's High
Performance Computing and Communications (HPCC) program, which focused on proxy
caching, filtering, and focusing technologies in K-12 schools.
EVENT
The CIO Perspectives conference will focus executives on the "Face of the Now
Economy", an ever-changing era in which the customer is king, the world
marketplace is the kingdom, and wired businesses everywhere are subject to 24/7
demand for constant information, customized products and instant electronic
transactions.
In the "Now Economy," Industrial Age business models just don't cut it, nor do
traditional views of how to build corporate value and ensure long-term growth.
Indeed, with the economic foundation shifting beneath their feet, business
leaders are crafting bold, scaleable solutions to three unique challenges.
Combining experience with ingenuity, these leaders are: developing new business
models; managing and leveraging intellectual capital; evolving to survive and
thrive in the information age -- and beyond.
