Symantec Executive Leads Security Tutorial At USENIX Annual Technical Conference
CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 19, 2000 - Symantec Corp., (Nasdaq: SYMC) a world
leader in Internet security technology, announced its principal engineer, Char
Sample, will lead a one-day workshop today on the topic, "Security from the
Inside Out: System Engineering for Security Systems" at the USENIX Annual
Technical Conference in San Diego, June 18 - 23.
"Determining how much security is needed and where to apply those security
measures is always a concern for enterprise organizations planning, implementing,
or evaluating their systems," Sample said. "In this day-long workshop, we will
provide IT administrators, technicians and engineers with the information they
need to design effective security systems."
Now in its 25th year, USENIX brings together system administrators, engineers,
scientists, and technicians for problem solving, innovation, and research. The
USENIX Annual Technical Conference is a gathering place for computer industry
professionals and serves as a forum for discussion of the most advanced
information on computer system development.
Sample is a principal engineer for Symantec's Core Technology Group and has more
than 15 years of experience in the industry. Sample was one of the original five
engineers on the Gauntlet project at Trusted Information Systems. She has
installed and integrated more than 200 firewalls and has deployed e-commerce
solutions, developed and delivered training for a variety of organizations, and
served as a speaker for various industry security conferences. Sample holds a BS
in Computer Science, University of Pittsburgh and a MS in Systems Management,
Capitol College.
