Symantecís Chief Technical Officer to Speak at Salomon

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Nov. 8, 2000 Ė Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) announced today that Ron Moritz, senior vice president and chief technical officer, will speak at the Salomon Smith Barney eBusiness eNabler Conference. Moritzí presentation is scheduled for 10:40 a.m. PST on Thursday, November 9, 2000 at the W Hotel in San Francisco, CA.
In his speech, Moritz will discuss Symantecís role as an active and leading participant in the identification and implementation of global security solutions. Moritz is an Internet security expert with more than 16 years in the industry. He is a member of the U.S. delegation to the G-8 conference on safety and security in cyberspace and is a member of the binational information technology panel of U.S. Ė Israel Science and Technology Commission. He currently chairs the Common Content Inspection API interoperability standardization initiative for the security industry. He has published and presented numerous papers on a variety of security topics, including mobile code security, Web browser security, security and electronic commerce, and computer ethics and privacy. The International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium has certified Moritz as an information systems security professional.
