Symantec Security Experts to Speak at PC Expo
CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 25, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security, today announced that Rob Clyde, chief technology officer at Symantec and Chuck Egress, general manager for Symantec's carrier content security group, will discuss network security at PC Expo in New York. Clyde will discuss Creating Your Security Policy at 9:00 a.m. on June 27, 2001. Egress will participate in a panel discussion regarding content protection on June 26, 2001 at 4:00 p.m.
"Every business needs to assess its security infrastructure and adopt a formal security policy that complements its overall business strategy," said Clyde. "Effective policies should be implemented throughout the enterprise in order to counter the inherent security risks that exist today."
During his session, Clyde will examine the value and implementation process of a security policy. He will also discuss who in the organization should develop a security policy and how it should be rolled out, enforced, and shared with employees.
Egress and his fellow panelists will explore new ways to protect and control e-mail, Web and other mission-critical content. The session will discuss several hot topics about content protection: including whether centralized content protection is feasible or desirable; how to deal with political issues surrounding a successful deployment; why pattern-scanning might not be enough; dealing with false positives; and whether traditional virus protection fits in this brave new world.
