Symantec Internet Security Experts Lead Security Discussions at Annual Computer Security Conference
CUPERTINO, Calif. Nov. 11, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security, today announced that four Symantec Internet security experts will speak at this year's annual Computer Security Conference, sponsored by the Computer Security Institute. The conference will take place at the Chicago Hilton Towers in Chicago, Nov 11-13.
- Sarah Gordon, senior research fellow, will present "Integration of Vulnerability and Exploit Classification Schemes" from 9:15 a.m. 10:30 on Nov. 11. As part of Symantec Security Response, Gordon helps direct the development of products that protect consumers, small businesses and medium- to large-sized enterprises from damaging computer virus and other malicious Internet threats.
- Lawrence Dietz, director of market intelligence at Symantec, will lead a workshop, "Legal Analysis Skills for Security Professionals" from 9:15 a.m. 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 12. With more than 30 years military and information security experience, Dietz is responsible for market analysis and competitive assessments for Symantec.
- Brian Hernacki, an architect at Symantec Research Labs, is presenting two sessions. His first presentation is "Threat Management: A Modern Approach to Network Security" from 9:55 a.m. 10:30 on Nov. 12. He will also present "Hack Attacks: Understanding Security Threat Lifecycles" from 4:00 p.m. 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 12. Hernacki has more than 10 years of experience with computer security and enterprise software development.
- Harold Toomey, product manager of policy management at Symantec, will present "Security Alert: Latest Trends" from 9:15 a.m. 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 13. Toomey has more than 12 years of information security experience in both the military and private industry.
The Computer Security Conference and Exhibition is sponsored by the Computer Security Institute and is the largest conference in the Internet security industry. In its 29th year, the conference features more than 130 sessions focusing on subjects such as Internet/intranet/extranet security, VPNs, PKI/cryptography, NT security, WorldWideWeb, network intrusion and counter measures.
