2003 - Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), and Sun Microsystems, Inc., today announced the release of the enhanced iForce™ Intrusion Detection (IDS) Appliance, Powered by Sun and Symantec. A complete high-speed network intrusion detection appliance, the solution extends the network's defense against today's attacks, which can cause organizations significant damage and cost millions of dollars in lost revenue.
The iForce IDS Appliance is an advanced network IDS appliance that
combines Symantec ManHunt 3.0 with the uncompromising Sun Fire V60x™
server running on a hardened version of the Solaris™ Operating System,
x86 Platform Edition. The system provides flexible deployment options
by monitoring up to 2 gigabits per second on copper- or fiber-based

- Multi-Interface Monitoring - Provides multiple monitoring interfaces, even on the 100 Mbps model.
- Greater Performance - The new Sun Fire V60x server provides better performance.

The iForce IDS Appliance features seven models with varying bandwidth
protection to address a wide range of enterprise requirements, starting
at a suggested price of $12,500. All seven models - 100Mbps, 200Mbps,
500Mbps, 1Gbps fiber, 2Gbps fiber, 1Gbps copper and 2Gbps copper are
available and supported in North America through Arrow Electronics'
