Symantec Certifies Radware's Application Switch Management Tool with Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture
Symantec Technology Partner Radware Employs Symantec Development Tools to Achieve Certification, Helping Ensure Customers Full Availability, Optimized Performance and Complete Security of Mission Critical Applications
CUPERTINO, Calif. and MAHWAH, N.J. - March
16, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader
in Internet security, and Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR), the leader in Intelligent
Application Switching (IAS), today announced that Radware's Configware
Insite is certified as interoperable with the Symantec Enterprise
Security Architecture. Configware Insite is the management tool for
Radware's line of Application Switches. This certified integration
enables organizations to strengthen their security postures by monitoring
network traffic and security events directed through Radware's suite
of Intelligent Application Switching products within the Symantec
Security Enterprise Architecture.
"Today's network infrastructures are sophisticated, complex, and comprised of a wide variety of diverse systems, devices and services," said Steve Cullen, senior vice president, Security Products and Solutions at Symantec. "To meet the challenges of protecting such intricate yet critical environments, organizations must have a common management framework. The certification of Radware's Configware Insite with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture streamlines the management of security event information, which, in turn, makes it easier for organizations to provide intelligent, prioritized protection."
Radware, a Symantec Technology Partner since March 2003, utilized development tools within the Symantec Technology Partner Program to achieve certified interoperability between Radware's Configware Insite and the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture. Radware's relationship with Symantec began in 2000 when Symantec acquired AXENT Technologies. AXENT had certified Radware as a security partner to offer a hardware-based, dynamic, high-availability load-balancing solution, FireProof, that was interoperable with AXENT's firewall solution, now the Symantec Enterprise Firewall. In 2003, Symantec and Radware announced interoperability between Radware's Content Inspection Director (CID) and Symantec's Anti-Virus Gateway solution for fault tolerant, high performing and scalable antivirus scanning. The integration of Radware's Configware Insite management tool with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture platform is another stage in the two companies' history of cooperation.
"Radware is pleased to achieve interoperability with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture. Our integrated solutions will eliminate the security-performance tradeoffs typically associated with high-performing defense," said Amir Peles, CTO, Radware. "Radware and Symantec's solutions, when running together, will resolve vulnerabilities, while delivering continuous, fault-tolerant and secure mission critical applications."
Integration with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture enables the consolidation and presentation of security data from Symantec solutions and third-party products to the Symantec Security Management System. The certified integration of Radware's Configware Insite with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture ensures that the data collected from the management tool is available from the Symantec Security Management System.
About Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture
The Symantec Security Management System and other Symantec products are built in compliance with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture, which provides a standards-based interoperability framework for Symantec and third-party solutions to work together to provide secure, manageable, and scalable enterprise security. Customer environments are heterogeneous and often contain security products from many vendors. Therefore, architectural interoperability is a critical enabler to enterprises that need strong security and centralized management.
The Symantec Security Management System supports several third-party products through integration with the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture. The following products have been certified to date: Radware Configware Insite, Teros 100 Secure Application Gateway, FaceTime IM Guardian, Sanctum AppShield, Top Layer Attack Mitigator, and ForeScout ActiveScout. Collectors for these products are available through the respective product vendor. Symantec also provides Symantec Event Collectors for products from the following vendors: Cisco Systems, Check Point Software Technologies, Enterasys Networks, Internet Security Systems, Network Associates, Snort, RedHat, Sun Microsystems, Trend Micro, NetScreen Technologies. In addition, the following Symantec products integrate with or use the Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture as a foundation: Symantec Client Security, Symantec Gateway Security, Symantec Host IDS, Symantec Vulnerability Assessment, Symantec Incident Manager, and Symantec Event Managers for AntiVirus, Firewall, Intrusion Protection, and Client Security.
