Symantec Launches Integrated Security Solution for Domino Servers

Symantec Mail Security for Domino Receives Lotus Advisor Silver Editor’s Choice Award

CUPERTINO, Calif. – April 19, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced Symantec Mail Security for Domino, which now provides enterprise environments with one integrated solution to combat malicious threats, spam and other unwanted email content within IBM Lotus Domino messaging and collaboration environments.

“Symantec recognizes that enterprises need security solutions to protect all aspects of their complex networks,” said Greg Gotta, vice president, gateway and network security, Symantec Corporation. “Enterprises with IBM Lotus Domino environments will benefit from Symantec Mail Security for Domino’s comprehensive, fully integrated antivirus, antispam and policy enforcement solution.”

The newly released solution has already earned an industry excellence award from Lotus Advisor Magazine. Symantec Mail Security for Domino received a Silver Editor’s Choice Award 2004 in the Messaging Management Tools category. The Lotus Advisor award write-up stated “Symantec's well-known antivirus capabilities are now complemented with antispam to protect users from unwanted messages. The antivirus and antispam capabilities are superb for organizations that can't apply administration resources to the virus and spam problem.”

Symantec Mail Security for Domino New Features
Symantec Mail Security for Domino, formerly named Symantec AntiVirus/Filtering 3.1 for Domino, now offers attachment and subject line blocking capabilities that allow IT Administrators to respond to emerging threats immediately. The solution, which now supports Domino 6.5 and Windows 2000/2003, also now offers a new mass-mailer clean-up feature that eliminates worm-infected messages, not just attachments, when mass-mailer worms are detected.

Now with multi-layered spam prevention that combines enhanced antispam heuristics, custom filtering rules, and multiple whitelisting techniques, Symantec Mail Security for Domino can maximize detections and minimize false positives. Symantec Mail Security for Domino offers support for custom spam tags that can be added to subject lines or message headers. This feature allows IT Administrators the flexibility to create spam tags unique to an enterprise environment so that end-user filtering or filtering by the server is not based on tags from external entities. Other unwanted content can also be controlled using flexible, rules-based filtering established using message characteristics such as subject line, attachment, maximum message size and words and phrases in body text.

Because it integrates seamlessly with the IBM Lotus Domino environment, Symantec Mail Security for Domino is easy to manage. Administrators can configure protection locally or remotely and set unique configurations for different servers or server groups. Administrators can also choose real-time, on-demand, or scheduled scanning; have infected files repaired, quarantined, or deleted; and export management reports in a variety of formats.

Incorporating award-winning Symantec antivirus technologies, Symantec Mail Security for Domino enables administrators to update dynamically, without interrupting a scan or incurring server downtime. Symantec Mail Security for Domino is backed by Symantec Security Response, the world’s leading Internet security research and support organization.
