Symantec Offers Webcast on Integrating Metrics into a World-Class Information Security Organization

CUPERTINO, Calif. - July 14, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced the final Webcast of a three-part series titled "How to Create and Manage a World-Class Information Security Organization." This Webcast, "Metrics to Help Manage Performance," will be held on Thursday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. PDT. Attendees can register at: https://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/webcastregistration.cfm?SSL=YES&webcastID=112

Linda McCarthy, executive security advisor at Symantec, will be joined by Madhavan Vasudevan, director of product management for the Sand Hill Group, and William Boni, VP and CISO of Motorola. The Webcast will offer CEOs, CIOs, and seasoned information security practitioners and vendors top level views on how to develop or improve their IT security organizations based on current best practices. Attendees will learn the following:

  • The Sand Hill Group will discuss their recent research report "A Blueprint for Information Security: Execution Strategies from Industry Visionaries." This report is based on interviews with 25 top security officers and discusses how security metrics are being developed and deployed to help CISOs manage for success.
  • Motorola will share experiences in developing and implementing a metrics program for their information security organization.
  • Symantec Corporation will offer a perspective on how to integrate these principles and practices into your organization.

"Security is no longer just an IT issue, but rather a business process that has emerged as an executive agenda item," said McCarthy. "The dynamic nature of today's security climate and the growing sophistication of threats has forced executives and security professionals to reevaluate their security policies and programs. Understanding the role metrics play in assessing risk and demonstrating improvements in posture, is critical to the success of any information security program, and ultimately business continuity."
