Symantec to Participate in California State Senate Hearing on Phishing
CUPERTINO, Calif. - Aug. 3, 2004 -
Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security,
today announced that Matthew Moynahan, vice president for consumer
products and solutions, will participate in a California State Senate
hearing entitled “Malicious Pop-Up Ads and Phishing Scams: Is
Your Financial Information Secure On the Internet?” The hearing
is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. PDT in room
319 of the State Capitol in Sacramento. The Senate Committee on Banking,
Commerce and International Trade, chaired by Sen. Dean Florez, D-Shafter,
will conduct the hearing.
Moynahan’s remarks will examine the security threats associated with
phishing scams and outline steps that consumers can take to protect
themselves.
Moynahan is responsible for driving the development and implementation
of security strategies for Symantec’s line of consumer products,
including Norton Antivirus, Norton Internet Security, home networking
and personal privacy products designed to address spyware and phishing
threats.
