Unisys Selects ON Command CCM
for Remote Software Delivery Service
Leading e-Business Solutions Company
Teams with ON Technology to Ensure Reliable and Stable
Software Environment for Enterprise Accounts - Cost-Effectively
-- with ON Command CCM Software
Waltham,
MA, January 2, 2001 – ON Technology (NASDAQ:
ONTC), a leading provider of remote software delivery
solutions, today announced that Unisys Corporation (NYSE:
UIS) has signed a global reseller agreement for ON Command
CCM™ software from ON Technology. Unisys now offers
ON Command CCM to deliver business-critical software
on remote client systems, providing network-based delivery
of business and productivity applications, asset management
software, remote e-learning applications and next-generation
operating systems such as Microsoft Windows 2000.
ON Command CCM has been judged
by industry analysts, reviewers, enterprise IT managers
and service providers as the best unattended solution
for remotely delivering business-critical software across
the extended enterprise.
Before choosing ON Command CCM,
Unisys assessed products for remote software distribution
- including PC-based cloning tools and traditional enterprise
frameworks - from several other technology vendors,
according to Hal Schneider, Solutions Architect Director,
Managed Network Services, Unisys Global Network Services.
ON Command CCM enables Unisys support engineers to provide
customers with a reliable, stable software environment
without having to make on-site visits to install programs
or make corrections. Unisys engineers can install and
synchronize the software products from the Unisys Managed
Network Services Centers at the company's Blue Bell,
PA, headquarters and in Amsterdam, Sydney and other
locations worldwide.
"We chose ON Command CCM because
it provides the optimal solution for delivering unattended
operation across the entire population of remote devices,"
said Schneider. "This is a key capability that
allows Unisys to leverage the power of networking to
provide our customers with fast response and high service
levels in a very cost-effective way."
Unisys intends to use ON Command
CCM as a component in a suite of integrated tools and
solutions including network management tools such as
Tavve Software EventWatch and products from other leading
vendors; Help Desk solutions such as Remedy; and asset
management solutions such as Maincontrol.
"As e-business requirements
become more complex, enterprise IT organizations are
increasingly turning to Managed Services Providers (MSPs)
to manage their critical network infrastructure so they
can focus on their core business requirements,"
said Phil Neray, vice-president of marketing, ON Technology.
"This transformation affords world-class managed
network services companies like Unisys significant opportunities
to expand their business by leveraging proven expertise
and new technologies like ON Command CCM. Our software
provides an open, scalable, best-of-breed platform that
complements Unisys service offering."
This new agreement extends the
relationship between ON Technology and Unisys. The two
companies currently offer ON Command CCM to government
organizations via the Unisys GSA IT schedule.
