Technology Continues Market Momentum in Retail Sector
with Significant New Customer Wins
Leading Retailers
Including TJX Companies and Discount Tire Select ON
iCommand
to Increase Reliability and Security of Critical Retail
Infrastructure
NRF Annual
Convention and Expo, New York (Jan. 13, 2004)
– ON Technology (NASDAQ:ONTC), a leading provider
of enterprise infrastructure management solutions, today
announced that five leading retailers – TJX Companies,
Inc., Discount Tire Company, VANS, Hom Furniture, and
La Fragua – recently purchased ON iCommand to
provide centralized management of their business-critical
retail IT infrastructures.
These retailers join a growing
list of retailers – including The Home Depot,
Staples, PETCO, OfficeMax, and AutoNation – who
are currently leveraging ON’s open and scalable
solution to increase their reliability, security, operational
efficiency, and responsiveness. ON provides a single
unified solution for managing the full lifecycle of
all retail devices, including Point-of-Sale (POS) and
self-checkout systems as well as wireless handheld devices,
Internet kiosks, store servers, and store manager workstations.
By deploying all software updates
over-the-wire – including security patches and
retail application updates – and providing remote
unattended disaster recovery for corrupted or misconfigured
store systems, ON iCommand virtually eliminates the
need to dispatch IT personnel to remote stores to provision
new systems and upgrade or repair existing systems.
Retailers have found that this unique combination of
centralized management capabilities significantly reduces
operational costs while maximizing uptime, which in
turn leads to higher customer satisfaction.

purchased ON iCommand during the company’s fourth
quarter of 2003, include:
