New Customer Orders Reflect Continuing Sales Momentum
for ON Technology

IT organizations and service providers worldwide select ON Command CCM over competitors to reduce IT infrastructure costs and improve productivity of remote/mobile employees

Waltham, MA, January 16, 2001 – ON Technology (NASDAQ: ONTC), a leading provider of remote software delivery solutions, today announced a number of customer wins for its fourth quarter ended December 31, 2000.

During the quarter, a number of customers selected the company's flagship product, ON Command CCM™, over competitive products such as Microsoft SMS, IBM/Tivoli Enterprise, CA Unicenter and Intel LANDesk. ON Command CCM™ was specifically selected because it: (1) Significantly reduces IT infrastructure costs due to its unique remote management capabilities; (2) Improves the productivity of remote offices and mobile employees; and (3) Is significantly easier to use and implement than competitive products. In addition, many of the company's new accounts purchased ON Command CCM to automate their migration to Windows 2000. Service Provider partners such as Unisys and Siemens also contributed to revenues by combining value-added management services with license sales of ON Command CCM.

A sampling of orders received includes:

  • Foxwoods Resort Casino, operated by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.
  • CMGI, a leading Internet operating and development company.
  • SunTrust Banks, the nation's 10th largest commercial banking organization.
  • Newark Electronics, North America's largest small order, high service distributor of electronic components.
  • New York Department of Civil Services (via Tek Insight, an ON Technology reseller and service provider).
  • Credit Suisse Private Banking and Credit Suisse, Zurich SKA, supplanting previous sales to other operating units of this leading global investment bank.
  • Ericsson Microwave Systems, a unit of the world's leading telecommunications supplier.
  • QVC Germany, a unit of QVC, Inc., the $3B e-commerce leader and operator of the well-known QVC channel in the U.S., U.K. and Germany.
  • Migros, a leading European retail chain.
  • Dell Computer, the world's leading direct computer systems company and an ON Technology reseller.
  • Unisys Nederland NV, the Dutch managed services unit of the e-business solutions company.
  • Siemens Business Services, a managed services provider unit of Siemens AG.

The company also booked add-on business from a number of existing enterprise accounts including WorldCom, Providian Financial, Debitel and Crossair.

"We're pleased that new customers continue to see the business value delivered by our products and services, reflecting continuing strength in both our direct and indirect sales channels on a worldwide basis," said Robert L.
