Management Solution
to Prominent Swedish Telecommunications Company
ON Command CCM delivers latest
software
to remote TV stations and field technicians
Waltham,
MA, March 15, 2000 -- ON Technology Corporation
(NASDAQ: ONTC), a leading provider of software management
solutions for information devices, today announced that
Teracom has selected ON Command CCM (TM) to managed
their nationwide environment of desktops and laptops
used by field technicians and remote TV stations. Teracom
delivers radio and television services that are distributed
throughout Sweden via analog and digital terrestrial
networks supplemented with satellite communications.
Teracom will use ON Command CCM
to rapidly roll-out applications to both new and existing
desktops and laptops, automate Windows operating system
migration, and deliver centralized PC management services.
ON Command CCM will enable Teracom to manage mobile
PCs, the majority owned by field technicians who maintain
terrestrial and satellite equipment throughout the country.
Teracom will also be using ON Command CCM to manage
PCs located in 50 TV stations scattered across Sweden
and to install and configure Office 2000, Internet Explorer,
electronic mail, and customized database applications.
"ON Command CCM enables us
to deliver new applications and updates frequently --
increasing the productivity of our mobile field technicians
since they are able to leverage the latest software
to conduct their tests and report results,"said
Mr. Anders Nilsson, Deputy Head of IT, Teracom. "Our
field technicians spend most of their time in the field,
therefore a mobile management solution is essential
so we can deliver the latest software updates without
bringing them in from the field."
With a single centralized management
system, Teracom's IT organization will maintain and
update PCs located at remote TV stations as well as
mobile PCs used by field technicians. Using ON Command
CCM, Teracom delivers management services without the
need to physically visit PCs, allowing the company to
quickly deploy the latest software to remote PCs. The
company says it will decrease costs and increase productivity.
"We are excited to see our
worldwide presence growing and an emerging trend in
the media industry," said Robert Doretti, President
and CEO, ON TEchnology. "Teracom has joined other
leading media companies, such as ABC TV and Deutsche
Wella, who use our management solution for reducing
costs and increasing end-user productivity and delivering
high levels of PC service."
