Leading Enterprises Worldwide
Select ON Technology
for Windows 2000 and Windows XP Roll-Outs
Toyota, Heineken, Atlantic Mutual,
and Hannover Reinsurance purchase
ON Command CCM software to reduce time & cost
of Windows 2000/XP migrations
Waltham,
MA (March 26, 2002) - ON Technology (NASDAQ:
ONTC), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure
management solutions, today announced it has received
several new orders from organizations who have chosen
ON Command CCM® over competitive solutions to automate
their Windows® 2000 and Windows XP roll-outs. In
its current quarter, ON received orders from a number
of new customers who are planning migrations to Windows
2000 or XP, including Heineken, Atlantic Mutual, and
the Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH); the company
also received repeat orders from existing customers
such as Toyota and Hannover Reinsurance.
Unlike conventional management
solutions ON Command CCM is the only enterprise-class
system that offers automated end-to-end Windows migration
capabilities. While these traditional products can only
be used to deploy applications and content, ON Command
CCM provides a much more complete solution by also providing
unattended deployment of operating systems such as Windows
2000 and XP. This critical capability eliminates the
need for technicians to "touch" every desktop,
thus significantly reducing the time and cost required
to perform enterprise-wide Windows deployments. In addition,
ON Command CCM is unique in providing one-click disaster
recovery in case of system corruption or misconfiguration,
further reducing the cost of ongoing management and
minimizing downtime for business-critical applications.
"Windows 9x and NT are nearing
end of life and all enterprises should now be formulating
strategies for migrating to Microsoft's next-generation
operating systems, Windows 2000 and Windows XP,"
said Michael Silver, Gartner VP and Research Director,
Personal and Distributed Technologies. Mr. Silver is
a featured speaker at a nationwide series of executive
briefings, sponsored by ON Technology, which specifically
addresses this topic (see www.on.com/gartner for schedules
and registration information).
Ronni J. Colville, Gartner Research
Director, Network and Systems Management, who is also
a featured speaker at the nationwide series, added:
"Automated end-to-end tools should strongly be
considered for W2K/XP migrations because they reduce
the time and cost of migration projects and ensure more
reliable and consistent environments. Moreover, rather
than simply using automated tools as a "one-off"
exercise, enterprises can significantly reduce Total
Cost of Ownership (TCO) by leveraging their W2K/XP initiatives
to implement ongoing management infrastructures for
all future deployments and updates."
ON Technology now believes that
it leads the market with respect to the number of enterprise
customers that have chosen ON Command CCM to implement
their Windows 2000 or XP roll-outs. A sampling of these
customer includes (in addition to the customers listed
above):
- Banking & Financial
Services: Winterthur Insurance (part of Credit
Suisse Group), Providian National Bank, KfW (one of
Germany's ten largest banks).
- Retail: The
Home Depot, Staples, and leading European retailers
Migros and Coop.
- Telecommunications &
Utilities: Expanets, CMGI, Cobb Electric
Membership Corporation , Teracom (a leading Swedish
telecom company).
- Manufacturing:
Canon, Pfizer, Volvo, Coty, Siemens, Thompson Training
and Simulation.
- Services & Media:
ABC News, Crossair, Reed Connections Ltd. (a UK-based
executive recruiting company).
- Education & Government:
Zurich Airport, Westminster College.
"The fact that we are winning new blue-chip clients
as well as fulfilling repeat orders from established
customers, speaks directly to the value of our products,"
said Robert Doretti, Chairman, President and CEO of
ON Technology. "Quite simply, ON Command CCM is
a robust solution that delivers a superior return on
investment. We are the proven choice for enterprises
moving to Windows 2000 and Windows XP."
