ON Technology Establishes Business Development
Partnership to Expand Presence Within the Federal
and State Governments
Waltham, Mass.
(May 7, 2003) - ON Technology Corporation (Nasdaq:ONTC),
a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure management
solutions, announced a business development partnership
with privately-held Herndon, Virginia-based JB Cubed.
Aimed at expanding the Company’s presence in the
government marketplace, JB Cubed will sell ON Technology’s
full suite of products to federal and state governments
and agencies, and commercial accounts. In addition,
both companies will collaborate on joint sales and marketing
activities to the federal and Mid-Atlantic State governments,
as well as provide consultancy support and a dual presence
at government technology expositions, trade shows and
seminars.
The government market is a large
and growing opportunity for ON’s advanced management
solutions, which include: ON iCommand™ for software
deployment and configuration management; ON Command®
Discovery for asset management; and ON Command Remote™
for Help Desk remote control. Growth in this market
is viewed to be driven by the heightened need for automated
security compliance, disaster recovery, and Windows
2000/XP migrations, as well as an increased focus on
IT efficiency and cost reductions. The federal government
spent $37.1 billion on information systems and services
in 2002, and will increase spending at a compound annual
growth rate of 11 percent from $37.1 billion in fiscal
year 2002 to
$63.3 billion in FY 2007 (according to INPUT, a leading
market research firm that tracks government spending).
“We are excited about our
partnership with ON Technology. Governments are actively
looking for ways to enhance security and accelerate
the deployment of new mission-critical technology while
improving IT efficiency – and ON Technology's
products provide the best solution,” said Jim
Beaupre, CEO & founder of JB Cubed. “ON Technology
has the on enterprise solution that provides full lifecycle
management of a wide range of devices over all types
of networks, including LANs, WANs, wireless networks
and the Internet. ON’s unique remote management
capability frees scarce IT resources to focus on other
critical needs.”
JB Cubed currently holds its own
General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule and sells
technology solutions into a wide range of federal departments
and nearly every federal government agency. ON solutions
are already being used in a number of government installations
such as U.S. Courts, the Senate of Pennsylvania, the
National Library of Medicine, the National Eye Institute
and the Missile Defense Agency.
“As experts in selling into
the government marketplace, JB Cubed is the ideal partner
to deliver our solution to the federal government; to
be successful in this market, their unique business
requirements and the length and complexity of their
sales cycle must be understood,” said Robert L.
Doretti, Chairman, President and CEO of ON Technology.
“With its successful sales record, established
GSA Schedule and highly trained sales engineering staff,
JB Cubed will enable us to pursue the highly-lucrative
government market more aggressively.”
For governments and their agencies,
ON iCommand’s open and scalablable Java-based
technology provides unattended remote management of
desktops, servers, and mobile/wireless devices such
as laptops and handhelds – for a range of OS platforms,
including Windows, Linux, Pocket PC and UNIX –
and has been designed to support next-generation devices
such as intelligent cell phones and embedded vehicle
systems and defense systems. With ON iCommand, IT departments
can now perform critical management functions on thousands
of remote devices simultaneously, under the control
of centralized administration servers. These functions
include: unattended provisioning, OS and application
deployment, ongoing security updates and patch management,
one-click disaster recovery and de-provisioning.
