ON Technology Solution Selected
by SunTrust for Remote Management of 1,000-Plus Branch
Locations & Strategic Windows 2000 Roll-Out
ON Command CCM® allows SunTrust
to reduce IT costs,
minimize downtime of mission-critical banking workstations,
and provide superior customer service
Waltham,
MA (May 28, 2002)- - ON Technology (NASDAQ:ONTC),
a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure management
solutions, today announced that SunTrust Banks, Inc.
has placed a new order for 12,000 ON Command CCM®
software licenses to supplement the 2,000 licenses that
had previously been purchased and successfully deployed
in their environment. SunTrust Banks, based in Atlanta,
Georgia, is one of the nation's largest commercial banking
organizations.
SunTrust is using ON Command CCM
to provide remote systems management for 15,000 mission-critical
banking workstations in 1,000-plus branch locations.
ON Command CCM is also being used to fully-automate
the bank's strategic roll-out of Windows® 2000 and
Active Directory, as well as provide one-click disaster
recovery in case of accidental misconfiguration or corruption.
"Our selection of ON Technology
underscores our commitment to embrace proven, cutting-edge
technology to achieve our business, financial and customer-service
goals," said Michael Hartness, Senior Vice-President
of Technology Operations at SunTrust Banks. "ON
Command CCM is a proven and comprehensive solution that
allows us to be more efficient while simultaneously
providing better service to our customers."
By "pushing" operating systems, applications,
and content over the bank's existing network infrastructure,
from centralized management servers, ON Command CCM
eliminates the need for technicians to physically travel
to remote and widely-dispersed branch locations in order
to install software or rebuild malfunctioning systems.
As a result, ON's advanced solution significantly reduces
IT costs while minimizing downtime for the bank's mission-critical
workstations, thereby further enhancing SunTrust's reputation
for superior customer-service.
"We are pleased to be partnering
with SunTrust on this strategic technology initiative,"
said Robert L. Doretti, Chairman, President and CEO
of ON Technology. "We consider the banking industry
to be a key vertical market for our revenue growth,
due to its requirements for availability, reliability
and scalability in a highly-distributed, mission-critical
environment. We look forward to continuing to support
SunTrust Banks with industry-leading software and services
that further enhance the bank's competitive advantage."
Unlike conventional management
solutions that can only be used to deploy applications
and content, ON Command CCM is the only enterprise-class
system that offers end-to-end lifecycle management including
operating system deployments and one-click disaster
recovery. This unique capability eliminates the need
for technicians to "touch" every computer,
thus significantly reducing the time and cost to perform
enterprise-wide roll-outs of next-generation operating
systems such as Windows 2000 and Windows XP, while at
the same time providing a powerful management infrastructure
for ongoing software updates and highly-responsive Help
Desk support.
SunTrust will also be using ON
Command CCM to provide lifecycle management for a broad
range of enterprise software components including:
- The Windows 2000 operating system
with Active Directory.
- Critical banking applications,
content, and mainframe access software.
- Standard productivity applications
such as anti-virus software, email, browsers, and
Microsoft Office.
