New York Life Selects ON Technology
Software to Manage Workstations Remotely and Automate
Windows 2000 Roll-Out
Nation's Largest Mutual Life Insurance
Company Chooses ON Command CCM® Software to Enhance
Customer Service, Reduce IT Costs
Waltham,
MA (July 11, 2002)- - ON Technology Corporation
(NASDAQ:ONTC), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure
management solutions, today announced that New York
Life Insurance Company has chosen its ON Command CCM®
software to manage as many as 15,000 mission-critical
workstations for employees, agents and brokers in more
than 200 U.S. locations. New York Life is also using
ON's innovative management solution to enhance its enterprise-wide
roll-out of Windows® 2000 and provide unattended
migration of end-user data and personality settings.
New York Life, a Fortune 100 company, is the largest
mutual life insurance company in the United States.
New York Life is the latest financial services company
to choose ON Command CCM's advanced, scalable system
for managing desktop PCs, mobile PCs and servers in
enterprise networks from a single, centralized location.
Other financial services companies that use ON Command
CCM include the Bank of Montreal, SunTrust Banks and
Credit Suisse.
Unlike conventional management
solutions that can only be used to deploy applications
and content, ON Command CCM is the only enterprise-class
system that offers end-to-end lifecycle management,
including unattended operating system deployments and
one-click disaster recovery for remote workstations.
"Our selection of ON Technology reflects our commitment
to continuing innovation in support of superior customer
service and responsiveness," said James Casey,
Corporate Vice President, Corporate Information Department,
New York Life Insurance Company. "The ON Command
CCM solution reduces IT costs while enhancing our ability
to deploy rapidly and reliably the latest insurance
products with the maximized uptime for remote employees,
agents and broker workstations. It's a robust and comprehensive
solution that further enhances New York Life's competitive
advantage."
By instantaneously pushing operating
systems, applications and updated content over New York
Life's existing network infrastructure - from centralized
servers - ON Command CCM eliminates the need for technicians
to travel to remote branch locations to install software
or rebuild malfunctioning systems. As a result, ON's
advanced solution significantly reduces IT costs, minimizes
downtime for mission-critical workstations, and provides
a powerful management infrastructure for ongoing updates
and Help Desk support that enhance market responsiveness
and customer service.
"We are pleased to welcome
New York Life, a leader in the financial services industry,
to the ON Technology family of enterprise customers,"
said Robert L. Doretti, Chairman, President and CEO
of ON Technology. "Our success in this very competitive
industry is based on our ability to reduce IT costs
substantially, while offering other important benefits,
such as rapid disaster recovery. We look forward to
providing New York Life with world-class software and
services that provide a high return on investment in
support of their strategic technology initiatives."
