Leading Hotel Operator Selects ON Technology Solution
to Manage Mission-Critical PCs Remotely
in Motel 6, Studio 6 and Red Roof Inn Properties and Corporate Offices

ON Command CCM® allows Accor North America to deliver higher quality customer service and superior support for employees, while significantly reducing IT costs

Waltham, MA (October 8, 2002)- - ON Technology (NASDAQ:ONTC), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure management solutions, today announced that Accor North America has chosen ON Command CCM® and ON Command Discovery® to remotely manage 2,000 workstations in over 1,000 hotel properties as well as in its corporate facility. Accor has also purchased the ON Command MSI Package Wizard to accelerate its migration to next-generation Windows 2000/XP-based applications.

Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Accor North America operates more than 1,200 upscale and economy properties including the nationwide economy leaders Motel 6, Studio 6 and Red Roof Inns and the upscale Sofitel and Novotel hotel locations in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

Accor will be using ON Technology's solution to reduce significantly the time and expense of maintaining remote hotel workstations, which are geographically dispersed and connected via a mixture of high- and low-speed network connections. In particular, Accor will be using ON Technology's industry-leading management solution to:

  • Implement one-click disaster recovery for remote hotel workstations,
  • Efficiently deploy mission-critical software including employee time and attendance applications, vital updates such as Microsoft security patches and anti-virus signatures, and productivity applications like Microsoft Office 2000 and Internet Explorer, and
  • Fully automate its planned migration to Windows 2000/XP.

Unlike conventional management solutions that can only be used to deploy applications and content, ON Command CCM is the only enterprise-class system that offers end-to-end lifecycle management, including unattended operating system deployments and one-click disaster recovery for remote workstations. ON Command CCM also allows distributed enterprises like Accor to manage all workstations easily from a single centralized console, including WAN-connected remote or mobile workstations as well as LAN-connected systems in corporate facilities.

"We selected ON Technology because of our commitment to the highest quality customer service and superior employee support," said William Garr, Director of IT Network Services of Accor North America. "ON Command CCM is a robust and comprehensive solution that will allow us to significantly reduce the total cost of ownership and further enhance the Accor competitive advantage."

By instantaneously pushing operating systems, applications, and updated content over Accor's existing network infrastructure - from centralized servers - ON Command CCM will eliminate the need for technicians to travel to remote locations to install software or rebuild malfunctioning systems. As a result, ON's advanced solution reduces IT costs significantly, minimizes downtime for mission-critical workstations, and provides a powerful management infrastructure for ongoing updates and Help Desk support that enhance market responsiveness and customer service.

"We are pleased to welcome Accor North America, a leader in the hospitality industry, to the ON Technology family of enterprise customers," said Robert L. Doretti, Chairman, President and CEO of ON Technology. "We look forward to providing Accor with world-class software and services that provide rapid return on investment in support of their strategic technology initiatives."
