Leading Management Service
Provider (MSP)
Selects ON Technology Platform
Digica Inc. Delivers Cost-Effective
Remote IT Services with ON Command CCM
Waltham,
MA, October 17, 2000 – ON Technology
(NASDAQ: ONTC), a leading provider of remote software
delivery solutions, today announced that Digica Inc.
has selected ON Command CCM(TM) as the core platform
for its remote management service offering. Digica,
which offers a range of IT outsourcing services tailored
to meet customers' needs, is using ON Command CCM to
deliver MSP (Management Service Provider) services over
the network to remote desktops and servers located at
its customer sites. Deploying ON Command CCM from its
centralized 24x7 Support Centers helps Digica lower
the operational costs of delivering faster Help Desk
response times to its customers. ON Command CCM has
been judged by industry analysts, reviewers, enterprise
IT managers and service providers as the best unattended
solution for remotely delivering business-critical software
across the extended enterprise.
"IT managers know that desktop
and server management is painful, and our MSP service
alleviates that pain while allowing IT organizations
to focus on their primary business objectives,'' said
Chris Turner, Executive Vice-President, Digica Inc.
"ON Command CCM is an absolutely first-class platform
for unattended network-based remote management and without
it, we would simply be unable to cost-effectively deliver
the high level of service quality that our customers
expect.''
With ON Command CCM, service providers
such as Digica are dramatically reducing the cost of
delivering remote IT services by eliminating the need
to send technicians to remote sites. As a result, Digica
is now able to offer subscription-based desktop management
for as little $53 per month per desktop -- well below
the actual cost to support desktops in-house. In addition,
support call duration is significantly reduced -- making
end-users happier and more productive - because all
software-related support tasks are executed remotely,
while new operating systems, applications, upgrades
and fixes can be rolled out in hours rather than weeks.
With this announcement, ON Technology
joins a family of market-leading Digica partners including
Dell Computer, Compaq, Microsoft, Novell, Cisco, HP,
and IBM/Lotus. Digica's customer base includes the New
York Times, Dow Jones & Company, Johnson & Johnson,
Philips-Van Heusen, UUNET, and Hexcel Corporation.
"Digica thoroughly understands
the challenge of delivering outsourced management services,
and their selection of ON Command CCM validates our
position as the market and technology leader in this
space,'' said Phil Neray, vice-president of marketing,
ON Technology. ``Our unique full lifecycle approach
helps MSPs increase customer satisfaction and loyalty
while providing them with a recurring source of high-margin
revenues from ongoing management services.''
