ON
Technology and Getronics Expand Strategic Partnership
$3.6 Billion IT
Services Provider Broadens Partnership by Selecting
ON iCommand to Deliver Outsourced IT Services Faster and More Cost-Effectively
WALTHAM,
MA. – Nov. 4, 2003 – ON Technology
(Nasdaq:ONTC), a leading provider of enterprise infrastructure
management solutions, today announced that it has expanded
its strategic partnership with Getronics (Euronext Amsterdam:GTN).
Under the new agreement, Getronics will use ON iCommand™
as a critical software component of its new outsourced
service offering, Getronics Tech Refresh™, which
provides a rapid and cost-effective solution for implementing
major technology initiatives such as new PC roll-outs
and Windows® 2000/XP migrations on a project basis.
Getronics will also leverage ON iCommand to deliver
remote outsourced desktop management services for its
customers’ business-critical systems, from centralized
network operations centers.
The previous agreement, which was
first announced in September 2002, established Getronics
as a systems integrator and value-added reseller for
ON Technology’s complete product line. This successful
partnership has already yielded a number of new enterprise
accounts for Getronics, including sales to customers
in the Netherlands, France, Switzerland and Belgium.
Serving many of the world’s best-known companies
in a range of sectors including financial services,
retail, pharmaceutical, energy, and state and local
government, Getronics handles approximately 1.2 million
service requests per month and manages 30 million IT
assets for its clients.
“The ON Technology software
solution is an important part of how we deliver services
to our clients who are undergoing technology migrations,
since it allows us to cost-effectively address their
requirements for rapid and effortless deployments and
upgrades,” said Brian O’Connell, vice president,
Channels/Partners, Getronics. “At Getronics, we’re
demonstrating leadership by combining leading-edge automation
tools with our own best practices and methodologies
in order to create a more complete and affordable solution.
We expect to be able to measure our success with ON
iCommand both in terms of new business and improved
margins.”
By automating the entire migration
process and dramatically reducing technician “touch
time” on each computer – typically by a
factor of 5 to 10x – ON iCommand allows service
providers to significantly shorten their delivery cycles
and enhance their competitive advantage. Support and
administration costs are reduced because there is no
need to dispatch technicians to manually install and
configure software on each PC. ON’s open and extensible
architecture also allows service providers to leverage
their customers’ existing investments in popular
tools such as Symantec Ghost, while consolidating multiple
tools sets into a single unified solution, further enhancing
service efficiency.
In addition to automating critical
IT initiatives such as operating system migrations and
new PC rollouts, the ON iCommand suite also provides
an automated and unattended solution for enterprise-wide
security patch management, disaster recovery, large-scale
application deployments, network auto-discovery, and
software license management. Network administrators
can also remotely remove viruses and rebuild corrupted
computers from “bare metal”, further reducing
downtime and increasing IT service quality and end-user
productivity.
Robert L. Doretti, chairman, president
and CEO of ON Technology said, “As a leading worldwide
provider of integrated end-to-end solutions and services,
Getronics provides an efficient and consistent service
delivery model to ensure the highest quality of service.
Getronics’ selection of ON iCommand to power its
new Tech Refresh solution validates ON iCommand as the
industry’s best-of-breed solution for delivering
outsourced services, while also creating a new source
of indirect sales for ON Technology.”
Getronics chose the ON Technology
solution after an in-depth evaluation of competitive
solutions for software and configuration management.
ON iCommand was selected based on its technological
leadership and comprehensive enterprise capabilities.
ON iCommand also allows distributed enterprises to easily
manage all of their computers and devices – including
desktops, mobile devices such as laptops and handhelds,
and servers – from a single centralized console.
