Winn Appointed to PowerQuest Board
OREM, Utah - Feb. 2, 2001 -
Shareholders of PowerQuest Corporation, a provider of proven solutions for storage management, elected Paul T. Winn to the company’s board of directors during a special meeting Wednesday. Winn, who is PowerQuest’s president and CEO, fills the seat vacated by R. William Bennett, who resigned his board position in December.
Winn, a long-time executive with IBM and Genicom, has been the chief executive officer at PowerQuest since November 2000. He graduated from Utah State University in 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. In his first nine years with IBM, he helped develop several new families of magnetic tape storage products, large capacity flexible magnetic disk storage media subsystems and new technologies for tape library subsystems. Winn also worked as IBM’s test laboratory manager, product manager of high-speed printing products, and division director of technical staffs at IBM. In his last seven years at IBM he was vice president and general manager, first in the Systems Printing, Software and Copier Business, and then for IBM’s Graphic Systems business unit.
In 1990, Winn left IBM to become CEO of Genicom, a publicly traded document imaging company that required a turnaround to become profitable. During his 10-year tenure, he restructured the company by streamlining expenses, improving profit margins, completing acquisitions and generating new revenue streams.
