PowerQuest's SecondChance Reverses the Effects of the "I Love You" Virus

OREM, Utah, May 4, 2000 - PowerQuest's system restoration software, SecondChance, successfully reverses the damage caused by the "I LoveYou" virus, which began in Asia on Wednesday and has swept across thousands of computers worldwide.

PowerQuest's SecondChance takes "snapshots" of the computer system at automatic or user-designated intervals. When a virus attacks, the user can choose which snapshot he or she wants to restore. The computer is then restored to its prior state, undoing any damage to the computer.

"Because viruses like 'I Love You' are affecting more people at a greater frequency, it is important that companies and end-users alike protect their computer systems," said Travis Lee, product line manager at PowerQuest. "SecondChance is a powerful, inexpensive way to protect your computer and undo damage caused by viruses, as well as from user error, data loss and most other computer problems."

Because SecondChance monitors changes made to the system between snapshots, the system recovery software must be installed prior to being infected by a virus. "When I found myself in a similar situation, I was ecstatic to find that SecondChance lived up to exactly what it said it would do when I needed it most," said Cecelia Pincock, small business owner in Salt Lake City. "Its powerful, yet easy-to-use functionality makes SecondChance a must-have for anyone who wants to protect their computer no matter their level of technical expertise."
