Siemens Business Services Taps PowerQuest DeployCenter® Solution as Preferred Imaging Tool for Low Touch Migration™ Projects

NORWALK, CT, and OREM, UT - May 27, 2003 - Siemens Business Services, Inc., one of the world’s leading providers of IT infrastructure solutions and services, and PowerQuest® Corporation, a provider of storage lifecycle automation to businesses worldwide, today announced that PowerQuest’s DeployCenter® imaging solution will be the preferred imaging solution during Low Touch Migration™ (LTM™) projects for Siemens Business Services’ clients.

DeployCenter is a solution designed to simplify system deployment by duplicating and customizing system configurations across a network. In combination with PowerQuest’s PowerDeploy Option, also used by Siemens Business Services, these tools provide an effective data and personality migration solution and secure data disposal solution.

Using PowerQuest technology in conjunction with LTM methodology, an IT migration service aimed at significantly reducing the time, lowering the cost and accelerating the return on investment related to a desktop operating system migration, Siemens Business Services can record an “image” of the end-user’s hard drive so that all personal settings are recognized and duplicated following an operating system migration. IT administrators profit from a rapid, hands-free migration, while end-users benefit by having their desktops upgraded without losing any of their personal settings.

John McKenna, chief executive officer, Siemens Business Services, Inc. noted that as Microsoft phases out support for its older operating versions, such as Windows® 98, the LTM has become even more valuable to customers who are forced to transition operating systems but need to do it with the minimal amount of disruption possible.

“LTM methodology has proven to be a beneficial tool for our customers, and the added reliability that DeployCenter provides makes the migrations, which were already done quickly and remotely, quite seamless,” said McKenna. “We’re pleased to associate our service offering with PowerQuest’s DeployCenter imaging solution.”

The combination of LTM processes and methodology with the DeployCenter technology addresses many of the challenges associated with desktop migration projects, including:

  • Image Development & Management

  • Project Management

  • Application Readiness

  • Resources Constraints

  • Migration Logistics

  • Infrastructure Support Expectations

  • Change Management

  • Enterprise Visibility (Asset & User Inventory)

  • Business & Data Continuity Planning

Siemens Business Services has been using PowerQuest’s tools as a core technology within its migration solutions since 2001. This formal agreement makes PowerQuest the preferred imaging management solution for LTM clients.
