Symantec strengthens Asia Pacific product development team with four new appointments
SYDNEY --NSW - June 26, 2001 -- As part of its commitment to strengthening market leadership across Asia Pacific, Symantec has appointed: Eka Hartono as product manager, Asia Pacific for Symantec’s Norton AntiVirus solutions; Andy Norton as product manager, Asia Pacific for Symantec’s intrusion prevention and vulnerability assessment solutions and Norman Kohlberger as consumer product manager- Asia Pacific. In addition, Symantec has extended the product management portfolio of Leigh Costin, regional product manager, Enterprise Solutions Division.
Eka Hartono joins Symantec in Sydney from Symantec’s Santa Monica office and brings extensive experience in product marketing management and business development. Eka previously held the position of product manager for Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition. Eka will now focus on Symantec’s anti-virus range, including: Symantec AntiVirus CE, Symantec AntiVirus Gateways, Symantec AntiVirus for Firewalls, Symantec AntiVirus for Lotus Notes/Domino, Symantec AntiVirus for MS Exchange, Symantec Web Security and Symantec Desktop Firewall.
Andy Norton has been with Symantec’s Asia Pacific team since the company’s merger with Axent in 2000. Andy has been appointed product manager for the intrusion prevention and vulnerability assessment solutions, encompassing Symantec Enterprise Firewall (formally Raptor), Enterprise Security Manager, NetRecon, Symantec Expert, NetProwler, Intruder Alert and PowerVPN.
Andy has extensive experience in risk solutions for telecommuting deployments and has authored technology guides that contributed to the European Economic Commission handbooks on telecommuting. He also led a security research lab and services team developing vulnerability and response mechanisms. Most recently Andy held the position of services and consulting manager with NetStar, one of Symantec’s leading partners.
Norman Kohlberger has been appointed as consumer product manager for Symantec Asia Pacific having worked in the same role in Symantec’s Europe Middle East and Africa region (based in Holland). As consumer product manager for Asia Pacific, Norman will represent all of Symantec’s key consumer products, including: Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, Norton SystemWorks, Norton Personal Firewall, WinFax, Norton Ghost Personal Edition and Symantec Managed Security for ISPs. Norman brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous position as the head of the European SWAT team for corporate customers.
Also announced today, Leigh Costin, Symantec’s regional product manager, Enterprise Solutions Division for Symantec is broadening his current product line responsibilities to include CarrierScan, pcAnywhere and Norton Ghost. Leigh will also spearhead the Symantec hardware appliance initiatives frontlined by the new offering, which includes Velociraptor. The broadening of Leigh’s role follows his recent completion of a post-graduate diploma in Business Management at Macquarie University, Sydney.
