Symantec Announces Enhances Mail Security Solution for Microsoft Exchange
Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Protects Networks
From Spam, Malicious Content
SYDNEY --NSW - 5 June, 2003 -- Symantec, the world leader in Internet
security, today announced Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange, a
comprehensive, integrated mail security solution consisting of content
filtering, spam prevention, and industry leading antivirus protection.
Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange offers one-pass scanning of
email content for inappropriate material and delivers enterprise customers
comprehensive protection, detection and removal of security threats on
Microsoft Exchange 2000 servers.
"Exchange servers play an important role in today's corporate environment
and Symantec is committed to delivering enterprise customers with
comprehensive solutions to maintain their integrity," said John Donovan,
Symantec's Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand."Symantec has built
on its existing Exchange solutions to provide a high level of performance
with minimal impact on the system."
The fast, scalable solution can be centrally managed from a single console
and is backed by Symantec Security Response, the world's leading Internet
security research and support organisation.
Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange, formerly named Symantec
AntiVirus/Filtering for Microsoft Exchange, is designed to provide the
highest scanning performance and protection with the lowest impact on server
performance. The solution includes the following new and enhanced
features:
- Enhanced Spam Prevention -- Supports all third party DNS-based
Real-time Blacklists or RBLs (e.g. MAPS, spamhaus.org and orbd.org).
Enterprises can use multiple blacklist services at the same time to stop
spam based on different sources. Suspicious e-mail can be tagged as spam
by adding a text prefix to warn of possible spam without deleting valid
email.
- Enhanced Content Filtering -- Incorporates flexible and intuitive
filtering rules to stop unwanted content from entering the network and
prevent confidential information from leaving the network. Scans suspicious
files and attachments. Allows administrators to set rules specifically for
scanning inbound email versus both internal an external email, saving time
and preserving bandwidth. Also utilises Symantec's patented Dynamic
Document Review (DDR) heuristic technology to automatically block
objectionable content.
- Enhanced Virus Protection -- Provides enhanced protection against
viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and blended threats. Purges mass mailer
worms prior to reaching end-users, minimising helpdesk calls and saving
storage space. Proactive outbreak feature detects virus outbreaks in the
early stages and automatically quarantines suspicious messages.
