20 October 1997 - Symantec Corporation has gone gold with new packaging for the recently released Norton AntiVirus Gold 4.0. Replacing the traditional Symantec yellow packaging is a gold box designed for maximum impact in the retail environment.
NAV 4.0 Gold is a local product initiative developed to meet the multi-platform anti-virus requirements of customers in the Asia-Pacific region. NAV Gold 4.0 comprises anti-virus solutions for Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 3.1, and DOS workstations - plus the new Norton Safe on the Web and Norton Secret Stuff, offering advanced Internet security and encryption technology.
In addition, NAV Gold 4.0 users receive cutting-edge protection against unknown viruses through Symantec's revolutionary Bloodhound technology. The Bloodhound system uses heuristic technology to analyse programmes, detect unknown or new viruses, and enable the user to repair the infected file immediately.
"The new gold packaging is a complete departure from Symantec's traditional look and feel, and spearheads our strong retail market focus," said Michelle Amery, Symantec's General Manager for Australia and New Zealand. "Brand new packaging encapsulates what we want to say about NAV Gold 4.0. The inclusion of the Bloodhound technology offers our customers the next generation of protection for unknown viruses. This ensures that Symantec continues its leadership in the anti-virus category."
