Symantec supports Microsoft Windows 98

TORONTO -- June 2, 1998 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) has announced its support for Microsoft Windows 98 with key Symantec products including Norton AntiVirus, Norton Utilities, Norton Uninstall Deluxe, Norton CrashGuard Deluxe, Norton Mobile Essentials, pcANYWHERE and ACT!.

All Symantec products have a proprietary technology called LiveUpdate that allows customers to incorporate changes into existing products. With this direct connection Symantec can support new environments such as Windows 98. The LiveUpdate connections for Windows 98 began June 1 with scheduled updates until the final availability of Microsoft Windows 98. LiveUpdate is a free service for all Symantec customers.

Symantec's communications products including pcANYWHERE32 and WinFax currently support Microsoft Windows 98. Key new products such as Norton Mobile Essentials and the new version of ACT! also fully support Microsoft Windows 98.
