Symantec Appoints Michael Murphy Corporate Sales Manager for Canada

TORONTO - October 13, 1998 - Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) has appointed Michael Murphy corporate sales manager for Canada. He reports to Christopher Monnette, Canadian general manager.

Murphy has held sales and systems engineering positions since joining Symantec in April 1995 and was most recently Symantec's systems engineering specialist for Canada.

Before Symantec, Murphy worked for the Federal Government in Ottawa and overseas, evaluating and supporting security and anti-virus products for Public Works and Government Services Canada and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (formerly External Affairs and International Trade).
