Symantec Announces Norton SystemWorks 2.0

Market Leading Utility Suite Tightens Integration, Includes Norton Utilities 4.0 and Support for Microsoft Office 2000 Macro Security Features

TORONTO - March 2, 1999 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in utility suites has announced that it has advanced utility suites again with Norton SystemWorks 2.0 Standard Edition and Professional Edition. The award winning Norton SystemWorks in the industry's number one utility suite. Norton SystemWorks has already captured more than 75% of the utility suite market, a market that is growing more rapidly than any other utility category. The market-leading suite includes five powerful Symantec utilities - Norton Utilities 4.0, Norton AntiVirus 5.0, Norton CleanSweep 4.5, Norton CrashGuard 4.0 and a six-month subscription to Norton Web Services - in one convenient integrated suite.

Norton SystemWorks 2.0 now features an even higher level of integration across the products and includes Norton Utilities 4.0, the latest version of the most focused, intelligent problem-solving tool available. In addition, Norton SystemWorks 2.0 is the first utility suite to include Microsoft Office 2000 security features, available via Symantec's LiveUpdate, to detect and eradicate macro viruses in the latest version of Microsoft's popular Office software suite.

According to PC Data, Norton SystemWorks is already the market-leading utility suite and is outselling the competition by almost 4 to 1. PC Data also reports that Norton SystemWorks was the third best selling Windows business software in December 1998 and January 1999.

Each product in the Norton SystemWorks suite is part of the Norton family of products that were designed and developed to work together. These products were then integrated using Norton Integration Technology, thereby eliminating the problems associated with bundled offerings.

Enhanced Integration
