Symantec Bundles Paragon Software's FoneSync with Act! 4.0

TORONTO - March 9, 1999 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in utility software for business and personal computing has announced an agreement under which Paragon's FoneSync® and accessory software will be bundled with ACT! 4.0 at no extra charge to customers. This bundle will be in retail stores in April. ACT! 4.0 gives small businesses, salespeople and small sales teams the tools needed for complete customer and calendar management. FoneSync is a PC-based synchronisation software product that allows ACT! 4.0 users to easily transfer names and numbers from their desktop databases directly into digital wireless phones. This means ACT! users can now take their data with them without having to re-enter information, saving them time and increasing their efficiency while on the road.

"ACT! 4.0, combined with Paragon's FoneSync offers our customers a distinct advantage in how well they can stay in touch and stay organised," said Erin Hintz, director of product management for ACT! at Symantec Corporation. "We are pleased that ACT! 4.0 is the first contact management program to offer the ability to transfer contact information directly into mobile phones through the technology provided by Paragon."

With FoneSync, ACT! 4.0 users can transfer up to 250 names and numbers from their ACT! database to a digital phone with the simple click of a mouse, rather than having to enter the information by hand. A two-way synchronisation feature ensures information on the desktop and phone is always updated, in case names and numbers are acquired when on the road. For international travellers, FoneSync automatically amends and formats country and international codes to work from wherever users are travelling. FoneSync is supported by most major digital handset manufacturers, including Ericsson, Nokia, Sony, Panasonic, Mitsubishi and others. The actual number of names and numbers that can be transferred may be limited by the telephone's capacity.

"Symantec is a global leader in software development and Paragon is proud they have chosen to bundle FoneSync with ACT! 4.0," said Colin Calder, managing director for Paragon Software. "FoneSync bridges the gap between two indispensable business tools - ACT! and mobile phones - bringing a new level of value to ACT! customers."

Beginning in Q2 1999, this FoneSync and ACT! 4.0 bundle will be offered in retail channels for a limited time at an estimated retail price of $199. The PC/digital phone serial cable, which is required to connect a cell phone to a user's PC, is sold separately for (US)$40 and can be ordered by calling Paragon Software at 1-888-777-6820. When sold separately, FoneSync is offered at a standard retail price of (US)$39.95.
