Symantec Announces Stock Buy Back

CUPERTINO, CALIF. - March 22, 1999 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC) has announced the board of directors has authorised the repurchase of up to $75-million of the Company's common stock.. This is the second stock buy-back program instituted by Symantec in less than a year.

"At the current valuation, we believe the repurchase of out stock is a good use of funds," said Gordon Eubanks, Symantec's president and CEO. "This program demonstrates our commitment to enhance long-term shareholder value."

The shares will be purchased from time to time in the open market. The timing of purchases will be based on stock price and other market factors.
