Symantec and Beyond.com Launch Canadian Online Software Store

New Store Makes It Easy For Symantec Customers To Shop Online

TORONTO, Ont. - Nov. 19, 1999 - Symantec Canada today announced a new online Canadian software shop created and managed by Internet superstore Beyond.com - furthering Symantec's initiative to create an easy Internet shopping experience for its customers.

Symantec's new Canadian online store, located at http://ca.symantecstore.com will offer Canadian customers all of the advantages of shopping online. According to a recent Angus Reid survey on e-commerce, a vast majority (90 per cent) of Canadian online shoppers have an appetite for Canadian websites to make purchases, but end up going elsewhere due to a lack of Canadian sites. Now Canadian customers can enjoy the convenience of using Canadian currency when purchasing their Symantec products, as well as being offered the choice of both English and French sites. The French language site is located at http://cafr.symantecstore.com.

"This joint initiative between Symantec and Beyond.com means Canadian consumers can feel completely at ease ordering our products over the Internet," said Chris Monnette, General Manager of Symantec Canada. "Consumers can purchase our products in the language they prefer and won't need to worry about any currency conversions. We've streamlined the ordering process while making the web site incredibly easy to navigate."

Symantec and Beyond.com designed the Canadian store so that it is easy for customers to navigate and find the information they need to make optimal software purchase decisions. The design of the online software store is based on customer feedback and features Symantec's full range of products made available by packaged delivery and digital download. Round-the-clock telephone and online support, as well as a 60-day, money-back guarantee on all products are also convenient features. The store will also host areas that are dedicated to specific customers such as small business, power and Macintosh users.

"As a leading software reseller on the Internet, Beyond.com has a proven track record in creating and operating online stores successfully giving customers an easy Internet shopping experience," said Mark Breier, president and chief executive officer at Beyond.com. "We now handle online software orders for four of the top eight software publishers as determined by Soft·letter and operate commercial web sites on behalf of several e-commerce partners, including Compaq and 3Com Corporation."
