To Ensure Customer Protection Symantec Lowers Price of Norton 2000 in Canada

Symantec's Norton 2000 is An Effective and Affordable Tool For Helping Consumers and Small Businesses Remedy Common Year 2000 Issues

TORONTO, Ont. - Dec. 21, 1999 - Symantec Canada, a subsidiary of Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC), today announced that it has reduced the price of Norton 2000 from $73.95(CDN) to $33.95(CDN).

"The price reduction is a direct result of Symantec's commitment to its customers," said Chris Monnette, General Manager of Symantec Canada. "By lowering the price of Norton 2000, Symantec has made certain that its customers will have an effective, low cost solution for Y2K."

Norton 2000™ software is the fast, safe and affordable way to identify Y2K threats to critical applications and data. It audits applications against a database of known Year 2000 problems and provides a complete report on its findings in time to head off trouble. It can even scan inside the most popular spreadsheet and database applications to find non-compliant formulas and numeric data that, left unchecked, could have a disastrous effect.

Due to the reliance of many programs on accurate date and time information to function correctly, Norton 2000 also tests system BIOS and clocks - and can fix many of the problems it discovers. Also included are LiveUpdate™ technology, for downloading the latest updates and information from Symantec's Year 2000 database and the Fix Assistant, which automates some of the most repetitive and tedious Y2K corrections.

Norton 2000 is now available for purchase at it's newly reduced price from Symantec's Canadian online store located at http://ca.symantecstore.com and on its French site located at http://cafr.symantecstore.com.
