Symantec Offers Free Webcast on Managed Intrusion Prevention Security Services

CUPERTINO, Calif.- April 30, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced its latest Webcast, "Everything You Need to Know About Managed Intrusion Prevention," designed to educate professionals at organizations of all sizes about protecting networks against unwanted intruders. Webcast attendees will learn the benefits of outsourcing managed security services, and how intrusion prevention security services can help them meet their e-business security needs. This 60 minute Webcast is scheduled for May 2 at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. EDT. Attendees can register at http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/webcastinfo.cfm.

"With the proliferation of Internet-based networked business, a top security concern of organizations is keeping out unwanted visitors and protecting valuable corporate information and resources," said Charlie Johnson, Vice President, Worldwide Business Development, Symantec Security Services. "Security today can be managed outside of the organization, saving time and money, and ensuring appropriate security to suit the needs of any size organization."

Not all companies have the internal resources or expertise to help ensure that the proper security measures are in place to protect against security breaches. Outsourcing managed security services enable corporations to focus on their core business without the added pressure of recruiting, training and retaining security experts.

Symantec's "Everything You Need to Know About Managed Intrusion Prevention" Webcast will cover topics including:

  • The importance of 24x7 host and network intrusion detection, monitoring and response.
  • How firewall and vulnerability management are critical components of a comprehensive managed security service.
  • How the expertise and diligence of a managed security services team can add the experience and response required for immediate action in the event of an intrusion attempt.
  • Why single focus managed security services, such as firewall management, are not enough for diligent security protection.
  • Why monitoring without incident response capabilities is useless.
