Symantec Offers Free Webcast to Educate Users on How to Safely Migrate to Windows 2000

CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 4, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC) today announced its latest Webcast, "What You Need to Know About Migrating to Windows 2000," educating users about the best methods to securely migrate to Windows 2000. Migrating to a new operating system can be a daunting task. However, it can be accomplished with minimal end-user downtime and IT personnel frustration. This 60 minute Webcast is scheduled for June 6 at 9:00 a.m. EDT, 11:00 a.m. EDT and 2:00 p.m. EDT. Attendees can register at http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/webcastinfo.cfm.

"Many organizations do not have the resources or expertise to implement an effective deployment solution, but there are ways they can reduce the IT costs associated with Windows 2000 migrations," said Thom Bailey, Senior Product Manager, Symantec. "Organizations need to be able to assess the potential vulnerabilities created by the installation of a new operating system and design deployment strategies to ease the transition."

Symantec's "What You Need to Know About Migrating to Windows 2000" Webcast will cover topics including:

  • How to budget, plan and implement a deployment strategy.
  • Helpful strategies on IT cost containment.
  • Hints for minimizing end-user downtime during migration.
  • Maintaining data structures ("PC personalities") and end-user settings while installing new software.
