Toronto Catholic District School Board Standardizes on Symantec's Content Security Solutions

TORONTO, Ont. - July 24, 2001 - Symantec Corp., a world leader in Internet security technology, today announced that the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) has signed a 10,000 user license agreement for Symantec's award-winning Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition.

Symantec will provide the school board with the security solutions needed to reduce student and faculty downtime due to virus infections. In addition, Norton Anti Virus will help reduce the time required by the school district's IT department to fight and recover from virus infections.

"Education is the Toronto Catholic School Board's first priority, and our computing environment is an invaluable tool in enabling us to provide high-quality education," says David Klein, a network analyst with the Computer Services department of the TCDSB. "Protecting this learning environment is one of our most important challenges. We selected Norton AntiVirus because it enabled us to focus on education by ensuring reliable security solutions throughout our organization."

According to Klein, the Toronto Catholic District School Board selected Symantec based on the company's reputation and credibility, in addition to the product's reliability, administrative tools and ease-of-use. "Symantec was able to provide the Toronto Catholic District School Board with both the products and the consulting services needed to implement a strong security infrastructure, which will ensure that our organization remains protected against viruses and other security threats," he says.

"Educational institutions are increasingly dependent on network systems for efficient productivity and information sharing, making it essential for these organization to protect their computing environments," says Michael Murphy, Canadian general manager for Symantec. "Symantec will continue to provide industry-leading products and consulting services to help organizations like the Toronto Catholic District School Board protect their network environment against computer viruses."
